For first-timers, pulling up to Quadz Video Bar, where Nevada Gay Rodeo’s “Cowboy Bingo" is held, you’d be forgiven for thinking you are in the wrong place. Essentially a storefront in a strip shopping center, Quadz Video Bar lacks any gay identifiers from the outside, other than being located in the gay "fruit loop” district, but you’ll soon forget this and realize you are in the perfect place – especially when the lights go down and the night begins.
The area is filled with tables and stools. Seating fills up fast, so it is recommended to get there as early as possible, especially if you’re in a big group. The games start at 8 pm, so heading down for around 7 pm for cocktails makes it much more likely you’ll secure a space, although it will end up being a cozy fit either way!
After bagging a seat, it’s time to head to the bar for drinks before bingo begins. You can also grab a seat, play bingo, and drink right at the bar itself. It’s pretty budget friendly for an event-based evening, with bingo packs costing $10 and drink specials being offered. The bartenders are super-friendly and worth tipping. They even have 2 for 1 specials. You’ll need to check with a bartender for times/dates of their specials.
Steven, dressed in a black western shirt and cowboy hat, and several of his friends with similar game attire make regular visits to “Cowboy Bingo,” so that they can scream the name of the game they love when they win: bingo!
For the players who come from all edges of the city, Cowboy Bingo is an opportunity to play as well as to socialize with people they’ve known for years or a chance to make new friends.
Every date for 2018 already has been scheduled so players can make plans to be here.
Nevada Gay Rodeo is proud to have Bootsy CarMichael aka David Heckman host the events. CarMichael is one of the “best bingo hosts in the state of Nevada,” says Mr. Nevada Gay Rodeo 2014, Brent Rosinski.
It’s CarMichael’s job to make sure every bingo player has the best game experience possible. She knows most of the players by name — and they know her.
While players love the camaraderie of the event and greeting all friends, they also love the game — and to win.
The Nevada Gay Rodeo is grateful for the opportunity to host Cowboy Bingo at Quadz Video Bar and for all those who attend. We couldn’t do what we do if it weren’t for all of you!
Friday, August 17, 2018’s event raised $807.
Cowboy Bingo is typically held on the third Friday of each month. The only exception in 2018 will be the September date.
The next Cowboy Bingo will be held September 14, 2018, at Quadz Video Bar. Cocktails at 7 pm and Bingo at 8 pm.
Cowboy Bingo is the antidote to boring nights out. The chances of winning a luxury prize are pretty slim, but you’re not there for the prizes; you’re there for the buzzing atmosphere and to support Nevada Gay Rodeo’s fundraising efforts for local, charitable organizations, such as the Sin Sity Sisters, Sisters AIDS Drug Assistance Program. Keep an eye on the Nevada Gay Rodeo’s Facebook page if you are planning a visit.
